These pieces of work were painted for the online auction taking place for the Heart of Kent Hospice Auction. Local artists were asked to submit work for the auction and I chose to theme my work around the gardens of the National Trust Sissinghurst. These gardens are so inspirational and at the time closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Think I am due a visit when the current situation is over.
This is a detail of the Elmer sculpture which I painted in aid of The Heart of Kent Hospice. I am being sponsored by One Maidstone and Mind and this event has been postponed until 2021. I cannot give much away as I am not allowed to show all of my design but I am happy with the way it came out. I finished painting a few days before lockdown and I was painting in the Elmer art space in Chequers Maidstone. I am looking forward to seeing him varnished and in situ when the event takes place. Explore and Draw - Art in Lockdown Exhibition 15th August - 26th September2020
Gingko Dryad - This is one of my first illustrations drawn with traditional dip pen and watercolour. I was inspired by two of my favourite illustrators Arthur Rackham and Edmond Dulac. The background wash is walnut ink.
The exhibition at The Rochester Gallery was set up by Luna Zsigo who is an amazing Chatham artist. She brought together art made in lockdown by local artists.
